A House for Bruty was the project that truly pushed me beyond my comfort zone. It demanded a balance of narrative, concept and technical precision that I had not yet tested. My skills in graphics and drawing were developing quickly, and for the first time I could see my ideas resolved visually. The brief invited us to select a character connected to the local area and develop a spatial concept from their persona. I chose Amy Winehouse, whose rawness and duality became the foundation of my narrative. From that, I conceived House of Bruty, a make-up academy that reinterprets her image, vulnerability and strength through architecture and materiality. The project also taught me to think holistically, creatively, socially and commercially. From exploring community engagement through the Amy Winehouse Foundation to designing bespoke furniture and lighting, every decision had to hold meaning. It was a demanding but deeply rewarding project that reshaped how I understood the potential of interior design.
